Morocco to integrate blockchain into customs clearance process

In Morocco’s 2026 Finance Bill there is a proposal to integrate blockchain in the customs clearance process. As per the Bill presentation blockchain integration will improve the transparency of commercial transactions and ensure better traceability of goods as well as the reliability of relevant commercial documents.

According to the note published on Morocco’s Ministry of Economy and Finance’s website, the main objective is to reinforce the fight against fraud and simplify the procedures.

The main objective is to strengthen the fight against fraud and facilitate procedures by enabling automated exchanges between foreign suppliers and the IT system of the Customs and Excise Administration (ADII) through a blockchain platform that will enable the verification of the foreign supplier’s identity and the authentication of commercial documents (invoices in particular) covering the import operation, the same source specifies.

The Ministry noted that the measure will be a voluntary one and not mandatory.

In February 2025, UAE AD Ports Group, an enabler of integrated trade, transport and logistics solutions, was contracted to manage and operate the cutting-edge IOT and Blockchain enabled Al Madouneh Customs Centre in Amman, Jordan.

In 2024, Dubai Customs launched a blockchain platform that would expedite customs clearance and commercial transactions.
